Stock Control and Management: Adding a New Item to Stock

This is where you add new stock items, which you would have seen displayed on the previous screen. By default, every item you enter in stock, also becomes an item in your catalogue. However, you can easily untick the box if, for example, this particular stock item is not sold individually, but only as part of a collection such as a hamper.

You enter the VAT rate applicable to this item and the cost price,i.e. how much it costs you to purchase this item from your supplier. You then enter your selling price, which is how much you intend to sell the item for.

You can enter a supplier code, to help you keep a record of your suppliers. The commodity code field is for when you are importing goods from outside the EU, and is a legal requirement.
