Order Management: Add More Delivery Items
< previous
Having added the first item to our delivery we are now presented with the option of adding further items. At the top of the screen the items which have already been added are displayed, with their unit cost, discount (if any), the VAT-inclusive total, the VAT amount and rate. Beneath this is the same system we saw in the previous screen for adding delivery items. If there are more delivery items then we simply continue in the way we did before, until there are no further items to add.
You will also notice that there is a drop-down menu for selecting the postage - your carrier, the rates for which will be calculated on the basis of the entries you would have made when setting up your carriage rates in the "Manage Lists" area. The sum total of the order is calculated and displayed at the foot of the table.
You may notice that at the very bottom of the screen there is a section entitled "Order Details". This re-presents the information you entered earlier and is there for your review.
Having finished adding items to your delivery, and satisfied that your order details are correct, you would click on the "Continue to Payment Button". However, before we do this we shall look at what happens if you choose to add another delivery to this order. It is helpful to think here of a hierarchy - Order-Deliveries-Items. An order can contain one or more deliveries, and a delivery can contain one or more items. Sofar we have looked at a delivery containing more than one item. Now we shall look at an order containing more than one delivery. Mr Smith might have decided to place an order consisting of a delivery for his sister living in Edinburgh, and now he wants to add another delivery for his brother in Glasgow. It is important to remember the precise way in which we are using the terminology here because it could also be said that he is adding an extra order. From the point of view of TOPS he is adding an extra delivery to his order. next: >
