Customer Management: Add an Address

Now you can add an address for your customer. Notice that you see the personal details for the customer you have just added in the left hand column, and an ID has been generated for this customer - in the example below the ID is "1". Let us look at some of the features of this screen:

  • Using our automated postcode look-up system you simply enter the postcode, click on "Find", and the rest of the address will be entered for you - except of course the specific house name or number which you will still have to enter manually.
  • You can specify the type of address: home, work, holiday, etc. You have the option to have multiple addresses for a single customer so this feature is very useful.
  • You can even customise the appearance of the address on the labels of for the envelopes or parcels, by choosing whether you want the address to be formal, informal, or exactly the way you want (custom). This works in much the same way as the salutation system which we looked at in the previous tutorial.

When you have finished simply click on the "Save Address" button.
