Managing Long Distance Carriers

The chances are that you will probably use only a small number of carriers for despatching your goods to your customers. However, each carrier that you use may charge a large variety of prices depending usually on the weight of each package. TOPS provides you with a preset list of carriers with their charges. All you will need to select the carriers you use, or add a new carrier not shown on the list, and then ensure that the charges are kept up to date in accordance with your specific arrangements with the carrier in question.

There is another carrier integration facility which exists within TOPS, namely the capacity to generate the requisite labels preferred or specified by some carrier companies. However, in the next few tutorials we shall be considering the aspect of carrier management as it relates to the ability of the system to incorporate carriage rates when calculating the cost of deliveries.
